In “From Black” (2023), we meet Cora, a recovering addict haunted by the disappearance of her young son, Noah. Wracked with guilt, Cora gets a chance encounter with a mysterious figure named Abel, who leads a support group for the bereaved.
Abel offers Cora a bizarre solution: a ritual to potentially bring Noah back. Desperate, Cora agrees, but there’s a terrifying price. The film cuts between the present, where a police investigation centers around Cora, and flashbacks that reveal her descent into the dark underworld of the occult.
